The proposal suggests the creation of points of interest for children, which means small in size rest areas at the junctions of pedestrian streets. Their perceptive and optical connection will be achieved through marking on the ground, “giving hints” to the children about the continuance of this network  and the optional paths to be followed from the city to the lake.

Each rest area could have a different character , urging kids to use a different skill (e.g. balance, orientation, hearing, touch etc) and could work as a field for discovery as well as a landmark for the childrens’ collective memory.

A crucial parameter is the connection with the urban landscape and the exploitation of the existing structures in each pedestrian street, so as the scale and kind of each rest area to adapt to the spatial quality of the surroundings.

In addition, these interventions could work as little artistic events and points of interest not only for children, but for grown ups too, who live in or visit the city, as these interventions will provide a new level of perception of the pedestrian streets, compared with the almost typical image we find in the majority of greek cities.
