The office
Architopio is an Ioannina based architectural office, founded in 2003 by Lena Sionti. Architopio’s work area is the design of public and private buildings, urban planning, landscape projects and interior design. The uniqueness of each project, the identification of the specific spatial values, the handling of the limits and the dialog with the surrounding space, constitute the basic axis of the building’s identity. Functionality and morphology, as well as sustainability contribute to the evolution of an architectural narration, which is led by the parameters of space, topos and perception. From the concept phase already, bioclimatic design principles, materiality and innovation are being emphasized, while the holistic surveillance during the realization, ensures the high quality of the final project.
Lena Sionti
Graduated from the Architecture School of the Aristoteles University of Thessaloniki (A.U.T.H) in 2000. In 2003, and with a scholarship from the Public Foundation of Scholarships (IKY), obtained the postgraduate master’s degree MBLandArch of Landscape Architecture, from the Escuela Tecnica Superior de Barcelona (E.T.S.A.B.), of the Universidad Politecnica de Catalunya (U.P.C.). Since 2004 she works as a freelance architect in Ioannina, where she founded the architectural design firm “archiTopio”, delivering small and big scale projects for both the private and public sector. She has participated at various competitions, exhibitions (BCN Landscape Biennale, Public space +,Simonetta Bastelli) and at publications, with awarded projects. She has taken part in participatory design processes in Greece and Spain. She also holds a professional engineering license of A’ class , Categories 06 & 07 (Architectural projects of buildings, Specific Architectural Design of interior and exterior spaces, rehabilitation of monuments, conservation of historic buildings, urban areas and landscape). Since 2022 she is teaching at the Department of Architecture of the Ioannina University.
